The Spots Your Cleaner Notices First (And How to Tackle Them Naturally)

Cleaning services perth

After years of walking into Perth homes, I’ve got a little secret to share: there are certain spots that catch my eye the moment I step inside. They’re not always the obvious ones like a messy kitchen or a streaky window, they’re the sneaky details that tell me how a home’s holding up. If you’re on the lookout for a regular cleaner (or just wishing for one!), I’m pulling back the curtain on what we notice first. Because whether you book us or not, I want your place to feel fresh and actually clean.

Now, here’s the thing: these spots aren’t part of our standard maintenance clean at All Pure Cleaning - they take a bit more elbow grease, so we save them for our spring or deep clean packages (and only if requested). But if you decide to DIY, I’ll show you how to zap them yourself with natural fixes using stuff you’ve probably got at home.

When I walk into a home, these are the five things that jump out at me every time:

  1. Marks on Light Switches and Surrounds
Those little rectangles on your walls? They’re fingerprint central. Every flick of a switch leaves a smudge - grease, dirt, or just daily life (or if you have kiddos who can reach... think, grubby little hands). The surrounds get it too, especially in high-traffic spots like hallways or kids’ rooms.
  2. Dusty Skirting Boards
Down at floor level, skirting boards are dust magnets. They catch everything - pet hair, crumbs, you name it, and if they’re neglected, they dull the whole room.
  3. Marks on Door Handles
Hands touch door handles dozens of times a day, leaving a grimy film. Whether it’s kitchen grease or outdoor muck, they’re a dead giveaway when they’re not sparkling.
  4. Grubby Bins
Inside and out, bins take a beating - sticky spills, food splashes, or just that lingering whiff. Even if they’re emptied, the grunge sticks around.
  5. Dusty Blinds
Blinds are sneaky - dust settles on every slat, and it’s only when the light hits them that you see the haze. They’re a chore to clean, but they make a massive difference.

These spots? They’re the unsung heroes of a clean home. Get them right, and everything else feels polished.

Why They’re Not in a Standard Clean (And How We Can Help)

Here’s the deal: our standard maintenance clean at All Pure Cleaning keeps your home ticking over beautifully but it's a maintenance clean... floors, benches, bathrooms, and those areas you tend to not want to get to (toilets, showers etc). But these detail spots? They need extra time and care, so we tackle them in our spring or deep clean packages. Think of it like a reset - we’ll hit every switch, handle, and blind with our eco-friendly magic. Want that? Click here to send us a message to chat about adding it to your next clean.

Natural Fixes You Can Try

Can’t wait for a deep clean? No stress, here’s how to handle these spots yourself with natural goodies from your pantry. They’re quick, green, and All Pure Cleaning-approved:

  1. Marks on Light Switches and Surrounds
    • Mix ¼ cup white vinegar, a drop of eco-dish soap, and warm water.
    • Wipe with a damp microfibre cloth, dry with a clean one. Add a drop of eucalyptus oil for a fresh scent and extra natural cleaning power.
  2. Dusty Skirting Boards
    • Dampen a cloth with water and a splash of vinegar.
    • Run it along the boards, then dry with a towel. The vinegar cuts dust and grime without chemicals.
  3. Marks on Door Handles
    • Same mix as switches: vinegar, a dab of dish soap, warm water.
    • Wipe with a damp cloth, dry off. Eucalyptus oil here works wonders too.
  4. Grubby Bins
    • Sprinkle bicarb soda inside, add a little water and give it a scrub with a sponge, rinse it off and then spray with some vinegar and wipe down.
    • Rinse and dry - no more stink, naturally.
    • Please note that we don't use baking soda and vinegar together because even though they create a fun fizz together, they effectively just cancel each other out, but when used separately they are both powerhouses!
  5. Dusty Blinds
    • Mix equal parts water and vinegar in a spray bottle.
    • Lightly mist a microfibre cloth (not the blinds!), wipe each slat, and dry with a clean cloth.

These tricks are straight from my eco-cleaning playbook ... safe, simple, and oh-so-effective.

Hitting these spots isn’t just about impressing your cleaner (though we’ll notice!). It’s about that “wow” feeling when your home feels truly cared for. At All Pure Cleaning, we live for these details in our deep cleans - all with natural products that keep Perth homes green and gorgeous.

Try these fixes in your own time, and if you’re ready for us to take over, we’re just a click away.
